In the last post, I talked about how riding a bike can be a new status symbol of success and how driving a fancy car isn’t. Let me discuss it a little further today since how we define success sets ZENWSP apart from other motivational success philosophies.

People who like to drive fancy cars would probably say that they can get their exercises done at gyms and they are as fit as cyclists. They probably do so by driving to the gym, and I feel that is poor management of our resources. They use energy to get to the gym, and they use more energy to cool the gym while they are working out. From the point of view of Permaculture, it isn’t efficient way of doing things.

Another word, they are not intelligent, and my image of successful people are wise enough to be able to come up with the optimal way of managing our resources. That is a criterion of an advanced and evolved human being.

I said that I wanted to do more bike riding in Hino, and someday I want to cycle all the way to Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan, and possibly in the future, I would like to do Biwaichi.

Biwaichi means to cycle around Lake Biwa which is about 200 km long. It takes 2 to 3 days. It is about 30 km to Lake Biwa from Hino so that it will be 260 km altogether.
