Happy New Year from Satoyama

Happy New Year!

蕎麦、納豆、酒

We have a tradition to eat soba on New Year eve in Japan, and we call it Toshikoshi Soba.

This year, I had soba I got in Hida with Hida’s local sake with home-made natto since I made a lot of natto this year.(well it is already last year at this point)

Then we went to the local temple where we held Jizobon last summer and rang a bell.

I have to get up at 6 tomorrow morning to attend a New Year’s ceremony with formal clothes at our shrine in the neighborhood.

That’s how a New Year begins in Satoyama.
