Last week, I said, how we defined success set ZENWSP apart from other motivational success philosophies. This week let me share how we define success in detail because without having a clear idea of what success is, it is easy for us to drift away and not to get our outcome.

Today, I would like to talk about how we relate to our family. My definition of success includes happiness, and there is nothing that gives us the feeling of happiness more than having a good relationship with people close to us.

There are a lot of so-called successful people who are constantly busy and have no time for their family. Again, I don’t consider them to be successful.

If you are truly successful, you put your familial relationship in your design. That is another reason I don’t aim to earn more than enough money. If you set a goal to earn a million dollars a year, you will need to invest a tremendous amount of time, and you will have to sacrifice your family in one way or another. I know it isn’t always the case; there are ways to automate your income flow to produce a lot of wealth without physically spending a lot of time, but even to do that, you will need to invest a lot of time in the first few years to establish the system.

Which do you think will take a longer time to create, a system to earn 50000 dollars a year, or a system to earn a million dollars a year?

You might think it is only 4 or 5 years you need to sacrifice, but depending on the age of your children, it is a long time to be absent from their life.

Therefore, first I would circulate how much money I need to live comfortably, instead of getting tripped up by a stereo typed image of how much we should be earning.

Then using Permacultural way of thinking to find the most efficient and holistic way to get your outcome. Growing your own food is one efficient way of getting your outcome because you can do it with your family. You can reduce your expenditure so that you won’t have to earn as much.

Being self-employed is another one. If you work at home, you can spend more time with your family. One of the reasons I don’t travel around to give talks or workshops so much is to be at home and spend more time with my family.

Living in a rural environment is another one. You can reduce your expenditure a lot; you can live in a relatively spacious house with a garden for a reasonable cost, you can produce energy using natural resources, and you can spend a quality time with your family by taking walks in the forest and so on.

It is an art itself to find a balance in all areas of your life. For me, it is much more challenging and worth striving for than being excelled just at your financial life .
