A film called Little Land was about the island of Ikaria in Greece which is one of the Blue Zones. I didn’t know about that when I was introduced to the film a few months ago. There was a film showing event to show this film at a Kominka Cafe da-na in Hino Town, and I was planning to go to it. But something came up on the day and couldn’t go.
I was told that the film was about a self-sufficient lifestyle and I was not that interested in this topic at that time since I was grown out of that phase.
If you read Zen and a Way of Sustainable Prosperity, you will know what I mean.
Had I known it was about a blue zone, I would have gone to see it no matter what.
Now I want to see the film. Well if it is an island of self-sufficient lifestyle, it is very much like Satoyama, and it reinforces my view that Satoyama lifestyle is the key to longevity.
